Jack Hanna's
Passport Into
the Wild

Strategy / Logo / Cover & Interior Design / Back Cover Copy

Background
Thomas Nelson is one of our favorite clients and Jack Hanna, well, who wouldn’t want to work with this generation’s Dr. Doolittle? We were tasked with developing a logo that encompassed Jungle Jack Hanna, designing the cover and interior of what began as a 12-page book, and writing the back cover copy.

Problem
In all of Jack’s fame, he had never made a foray into children’s books. We had to visually introduce Jack Hanna fans to a branded children’s book series and “out wow” the slew of children’s products on the shelves in major bookstores.

Solution
Passport into the Wild began as a 12-page book with one spread in the center. With our involvement and input, the product evolved over time to become a 48-page visual odyssey that cataloged Jack’s adventures throughout seven continents. We added a pocket in the front of the book that had a removable passport with sticker sheets so kids could record their journey with Jack.

Result
To date, this book has won 2 Mom’s Choice Awards and a prestigious Moonbeam Award. It released with rave reviews from parents on Amazon.com. Oh, and our 8 year-old sleeps with it under her pillow – which is the biggest thumbs up we could have asked for!
